Our Head Coach, Christian Rasmussen, has been coaching the Polar Bears 14 years. Christian grew up in Walnut Creek. He started swimming when he was six, and swam competitively through college and now swims and competes with the Walnut Creek Masters Swim Team. Christian coached a number of recreational, high school and year-round swim teams, before joining Rancho San Miguel. We are excited to have Christian bring his expertise in competitive swimming, as well as a great sense of fun to the Polar Bears!
When he is not coaching the Polar Bears, Christian offers swim lessons and competitive swim clinics at Rancho San Miguel Swim Club through his swim school Rasmussen Swimming.
Welcome back Taylor! Taylor started swimming for RSM when she was 4 years old. She enjoyed 8 wonderful seasons before deciding to swim year round with the Terrapins. She currently swims for the Division I program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her events include the 100 and 50 free and 100 butterfly. When she is not swimming she enjoys exploring the island and laying out on the beach.

My name is Michelle Long and I have been a swimmer my whole life. I grew up with a pool in my backyard and at age 5 my parents enrolled me into swim lessons so that I could properly learn the different strokes. At age 9 I joined East County Stingrays and swam with that recreational team all the way until I was 18. It was in high school that I discovered water polo and fell in love with playing the sport. From there on into college I did both swimming and water polo along with several other sports. I did get asked to play on the water polo team at SDSU and unfortunately had to decline due to work and school commitments. So instead I continued teaching swim lessons!
I started teaching lessons my freshman year of high school, 14 years ago, and every day since then I have enjoyed it immensely. I have taught at several swim schools, most of them down in San Diego throughout the last 10 years, but have also taught lessons on my own. It wasn't until recently, however, that I started to coach along with being a swim instructor. Let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions I have made!
